Menu data and Eat Hub accounts are now backed up every night to two separate providers in the EU. Each night's backup is test-restored before older copies are pruned, so we know it works, not just that it ran.

Published menus are served from the edge

When we send you a demo link, it now opens your own menu live as an Edible menu, with plans a tap away. "Get started" drops that menu straight into your editor, with your business name and region already filled in.

Faster uploads, and multi-page PDFs work

Submitting menu photos comes back in a fraction of the time it used to, especially when you send several at once.

Multi-page PDF menus, which could previously fail part-way, are now read page by page and merged into one menu. A section that runs across a page break stays one section.

Crustaceans and molluscs are now told apart

"Shellfish" used to be one bucket. Now a menu that names prawns is tracked as crustaceans and one that names mussels as molluscs, and tracking one never implies the other is covered. Where a menu only says "shellfish", we keep it general and tell you to ask.

There's now a Share feedback button on every snap result and in the More menu. Feedback sent from a snap arrives with the menu details attached, so we can look at exactly what you saw.

Know which allergens a menu actually tracks

Every snapped menu now comes with a coverage card: which allergens and diets the menu itself keeps track of, and which it doesn't. If a menu never mentions sesame, we say "ask", not "safe".

The same rule applies to diets. A menu that doesn't track "vegan" won't quietly hide dishes from you; it tells you to check.

Eat Hub is live, in beta

Our app for diners with allergies and diets is out at eat.whatisedible.com. Build a profile, snap menus, and share your profile with the people who cook for you. It's a beta: snaps are capped per month while we learn what people need.

Location and device data is stripped from your menu photos

Phones tuck location and device details into every photo. When you upload a menu photo, we strip those before it's stored. The photo is kept for reading the menu, nothing more.

Clearer allergen badges

One badge per allergen family, never two for the same category on the same dish.

Matching got stricter in the right direction too: if your profile says "gluten", dishes marked wheat, rye, barley or oats are caught as well, so nothing slips through on a technicality.

Signing in to Eat Hub now uses a one-time code sent to your email. No passwords, no links to keep. Your account page shows how many snaps you have left this month and when they reset, and lets you set your region.

The whole app now works in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Dutch: sign-in, profiles, the snap flow, error messages, even the dates on your snapped menus.

PDF menus, and plain words when a scan fails

You can now upload PDFs as well as photos: JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 5MB each.

When a menu can't be read, you get a plain explanation: the menu was unreadable, we're busy, the daily limit was reached, you're offline, or it timed out. No more technical errors or endless spinners, and a direct link to support if you need it.

Snapped menus stay on your phone, and error states are safer

A snapped menu is saved on your device once it's ready, so it opens instantly next time and works without a connection.

A few safety fixes came with it. If a shared profile can't be loaded, you now see a clear error with a retry, not an empty profile that could read as "no allergies". Profile names can't be left blank or duplicated. And deleting a profile also removes its key from your device.

Your allergen matrix, built from your menu

As you build a menu, Edible now shows the dietary spreadsheet (the allergen matrix venues are asked to keep), generated from what you've entered. There's no separate document to keep in step with the menu: change a dish, and the matrix follows.
